Monday Travels

So so so... Exactly one week ago was Edina's birthday!

Can't believe one week passed by so quickly ~ Last Monday was spent searching for schools! Me and Edina formed one team, Adrien and Kasun formed another. We divided 13 schools between ourselves to deliver the certs, booklets and documentations from WSDC back awhile. Edina and me took the long route, but lesser schools - Gapur, Batu Kawa, Muara Tuang, Kota Samarahan! We drove like 30++ km around Kuching that day but only took about 3 hours since it was only a drive and drop mission.

After that was done, Edina, me, Adrien, Kasun, Kevin Tan, Rafiee and Ayu went to grab some lunch at Tom's:

Then I went back to continue with assignments and along the way to reduce stress:

... Judging from the tiles I get, I think I got more stress from playing!!

Tuesday saw me hitting Spring for some lunch and a movie. Madam Tang's laksa never fail to satisfy.

Then decided to catch Law Abiding Citizen by Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx.

I think this is like the 3rd movie I saw this year featuring him. Not bad! And this movie was fantastic! I love mastermind movies like these. And the other chinese movie, Accident featuring Louis Koo and Richie Jen but have yet to catch that one.

Wednesday was pretty quiet for me - lecture, then lunch at All Joy at Saberkas and back to uni for meetings. Yes, we still do have meetings for CPA eventhough it's Week 13. I am that mean.

Midnight snacking - Maggi with reduced soup so its extra spicy, milk to take the heat away and half a watermelon commando style to cool things off! Hehe.

So, back to assignments! CRM and IBL due Friday. So its time to buck up!! I have all the answers written down, just a matter of typing it out, referencing and tidying up.

cannot sleep cannot sleep

i blame nescafe!

studied at the library today from 430 pm to 930 pm

and i slept from 4am to 9am today

so tired but NOT SLEEPY!

arghghghghghghh

Ridiculous!

• In the Semenanjung – “Jika salah seorang ibu atau bapa calon adalah seorang Melayu yang beragama Islam/Orang Asli seperti mana yang ditakrifkan dalam Perkara 160(2) Perlembagaan Persekutuan; maka anaknya adalah dianggap seorang Bumiputera.” (If either parent of a candidate is a Malay who is a Muslim/Orang Asli as defined in Article 160 (2) of the Federal Constitution, the child is considered a Bumiputera.)

• In Sabah – “Jika bapa calon adalah seorang Melayu yang beragama Islam/Peribumi Sabah seperti yang ditakrifkan dalam Perkara 161A(6)(a) Perlembagaan Persekutuan; maka anaknya adalah dianggap seorang Bumiputera.” (If the father of the candidate is a Malay who is a Muslim/native of Sabah as defined by Article 161A(6)(a) of the Federal Constitution, the child is considered a Bumiputera.)

(If the father and mother is a native of Sarawak as defined under Article 161A(6)(b) of the Federal Constitution, the child is considered a Bumiputera.

-Taken from Borneo Post-

Oh come on! I may not be politically aware, but stuff like this that infringes on the rights of the people is just freaking annoying and stupid! Why in Sabah must it be so different from Sarawak? And, why are some people being discriminated while others walk free?

Malaysia, Malaysia.

COlourful Week

So we've been having a very hectic week, running aruond Swinburne and practicing our CPA Day event. Basically what we have in store includes alot of sweat!

Have not been eating proper lately. Missing lunch or dinner, or eating a bun now and then while studying through dinnertime, or busy emailing people for club stuff, or doing assignments. I am really taking my assignments seriously as I don't wanna be failing my final semester, so even though it's due one month away I'm almost done with it.

One of the deelicious victims of my snackings - almond crusted chocolate donuts. I love Gingerbread House! So convenient - when hungry, just walk out and buy and nom nom nom away.

Spent today doing CPA meeting for 4 more events and one hamper packing session with Lil and Grace for CPA Day. Any session with the both of them is always fun!!

Swish! And it was slashed off.

Arranging them properly to make it suitably filled.

Blair Waldorfs!

OMG we just got married!!

Pretending to be hardworking here when the job is done dy. XD

Peace! ^^

Final work.
Conclusion: Organising a treasure hunt is a LOT of hard work!! I still have the clues to figure out tonight but I have my system all set out in my head. So.. Tonight will see me reading up on IBL while sorting colour paper.

Notes:

a. Heroes is just getting ridiculous!

b. Desperate Housewives, taking a dark turn.

c. Gossip Girl, as always.

d. House, booring. I quit house awhile back.

e. How I Met Your Mother, FUN!

f. Southpark, pure evil.

g. Grey's and Private Practice, heart-stopping as usual.

h. And I am currently addicted to playing Scrabble on FB. Care to join?

Time for CHANGE!

I MISSED BLOGGING!

I realised that it is more important, now more than ever, to keep a blog because friends are slowly leaving my life. True, I will still see them - but not as often as I'd like them to. Its so much fun to call them up and go out and chill, and sit down, lay back and just simply talk or share wisdom with each other. That becomes the crux of friendships.

So, to give you readers some updates, the past few days saw me preparing for a couple of things, more for CPA. We had our recruitment drive last weekend, and we settled on 6 new recruits. I have high hopes for AND from them, so we'll see how things go over the next few weeks.

Then there's CPA Day and Leadership Camp! Two of the more fun-oriented activities that we have. After conference and all the career talks I had, I prefer these to organise cuz they're so much fun to handle! All the rush, the running and getting things done.

Then on Tuesday me, Jacob, Lilian, Shariman, Edina, Chloe and Kwee went up to visit Santubong, Damai and Permai to check out their facilities and to discuss with the managers regarding the package they can offer us. I can tell you, we really do work hard to get things done right for this second major event as VIPs from KL will be coming over, like for conference.

Pictures:

So close yet so far! T_T

Nice deco.
Gambar syok sendiri!
The ballrooms are quite nice here at Santubong eh.

DAMAI!!
Obstacle course in Damai. Did you know about this place? Me neither!

Didn't manage to take pictures at Permai because we were running late. Almost 7 when we reached back to uni you know!

So, back to uni for more meetings and negotiations. Really am trying to find sponsors for it, so that our students do not have to pay for alot. We're aiming for 80 students for 3 days, 2 nights including transportation, accommodation, souvenirs and food you know?

ANyways, gtg! Tiem to go practice the CPA Day games for next week. Excited much!!

A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a
pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in
it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion
of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house,
the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only
one and a half pots full of water to his master's house. Of course, the
perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for
which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own
imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of
what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be a
bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you."

"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?"

"I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.

The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."

Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side?

That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them.

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."

Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But if we will allow it, the Lord will use our flaws to grace His Father's table.

In God's great economy, nothing goes to waste.

So as we seek ways to minister together, and as God calls you to the tasks He has appointed for you, don't be afraid of your flaws.

Acknowledge them, and allow Him to take advantage of them, and you, too, can be the cause of beauty in His pathway.

Go out boldly, knowing that in our weakness we find His strength, and that "In Him every one of God's promises is a Yes."

Miri

So from KL, I went down to Miri with Shariman and Jacob. Curtin's Accounting Club is having their conference, and tradition dictates us to attend.

And off we went! Staying at Imperial Hotel (paiseh, I thought it was named Boulevard Hotel!) The other committees went to Miri earlier, like a day earlier to check out the town and see if they could do a bit of shopping. We met up that Friday night and woo, were we a crazy bunch!

Playing card games leading to terrible punishments set by the crazy gals! I tell you, poor Jacob always became the victim! Had to write Edina's full name with his ass, eat a wicked concoction of jelly, chilli sauce sandwich and .. smth unmentionable here. La la la. Lets keep it that way!

Saturday saw us waking bright and early to prepare for the conference which starts at 9am.

Their shirt this year is white - last year was apple green hehe. Nice design!

I like their concept of labellign the bags to make it easier to allocate.

Full of goodies!

Their these this year which is to "Awaken the FInancial Genius Within". Catchy!

The setuo in front. Very colourful de.

Stuff we got.

Sofm of the games we played during the conference. It was an activity based game, which was very fun!

They gave us a 20 year scenario and every year, we are given 2 points to invest in either Equity, GOld, Properties or Bonds. If we happen to invest in gold, and that year, the scenario shows that gold was a good investment, we can move, say, 3 steps front. However, if it was a bad investment, then we would have to move backwards, e.g. 2 steps back.

Along the 20 years, eachyear carried a different scenario. They fed us with info such as the major happenings (XYZ went bankrupt, so and so invaded so and so) and macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, interest rates, bla bla bla. So we can make the decision whether or not to invest in the 4 categories above.

Loans can only be use once, it gives you an extra two ticks for the year that you used it in. And, you can choose to hide your cash away in the Cash section, but then you will never move ahead.

The aim of the game is to reach retirement the fastest. The Fortress Wealth Advisory collected Rm1 from every participant in the conference and at the end of the day, someone won over the pooled cash of RM200++!!

Food for the day.

Wah, Curtin very active in organising fun stuff like these!

Got moon gazing summore.

At the end of the day, I personally feel happy that the conference went well. we all went back to the hotel to prepare for appreciation dinner at night.

The moon was freaking bright!

Mr Chow?? XD

Random pict of the wristbands I got from KL. Love!

The next day saw us hitting the malls. From Boulevard to Bintang Walk to Imperial Mall, we were mad shopaholics scouring for goodies to buy!

What a rip-off la!

Didina and me with Shaman and Azie taking a break at Delifrance. Happy with what we got!

Spaghetti!
Salmon sandwich. Mmm.

My tuna sandwich which I LOVE.

ATTACK!

Pizzaa~

Saw these. Miniatures !!

Hanging out at hotel lobby.

Tired!
After that, we went to airport earlier because heard rumors about plane delay which we needed to confirm.. When we got there, memang pun! MAS flight delayed from 8 pm to 10 pulak! So we waited for the other committees first while chilling at kopitiam Malaya..

Can make!!

Cutenya.

When everyone aseembled, we checked in and the lady asked if we;'d like to be compensated by being put on an earlier flight which transits at Bintulu. Technically, we'll arrive at Kuching by 10. We took it! Rather take this than wait until 10 baru take off right??

Who knew we'd be put on MASwings!!

So small and compact. The first leg of the flight my seat was 1C, while from Bintulu to Kch, I was sitting riiight at the back, 14 F!

The plane had smooth take off and landing, but in between the flight was damn bumpy whenever we went through a cloud. Felt like a roller coaster ride, literally.

Blades of the plane.

Sitting at the back.

Airconditioning sucks, i think that is why they provided us with these handheld fans haha.

So kesian ler these planes.. Aiyo..

Anyway, back in Kuching! That ends things for another chapter of my life.

KL

So I went to KL during my midsemester break. The next day after graduation, I hopped on the early plane to KL to meet up with Mr Edwin, our CPA club advisor to settle some stuff from conference and for our future 2 activities.

Then, shopping time! XD

The environment in KL is really different from Kuching.

I feel like those country American girls who moved to New York. Staring with awe at the skyscrapers and better infrastructure. Remembering routes and schedules of the KTM, Monorail and LRT lines. Keeping my belongings in check every 10 minutes. (Yesh, with excitement comes enhanced need for paranoia over belongings.)

Such a culture shock.

Stayed at Travellers Palm Lodge again. The first time we were there, we went 1 year ago for the KL Industrial Trip. Now we're back, and the conditions have seriously improved! The kitchen is better stocked, the bathrooms have been renovated. There's nice deco all around, and there are 2 new faces, Andrew and Shaq, taking shifts to welcome new tenants so I didn't see Suzy around.

Pictures to boot:

This painting reminded me of something I drew back in Primary school. Blast from the past!

My original room last time when we went for our first trip. Wei Khee, Shaman and I stayed here, tho I recall Kevin Sia also sleeping along in the room after our pillow talk sessions.

Washing machine.

Cleaner space!

Shaman and Jacob having breakfast while I camwhored around.

Tenang!
Entertainment and information.

And there are computers for you to check the Internet now! But you're charged accourding to the time you spent.

Main office area.

Shaman admiring the old school stuff they have around.

Astro!
This used to work EONS ago.
Gramophone? Hehe
Got bottled water here la! Didnt have to walk all the way to 7-11 to buy. -_-''
See? They still believe in the honour code.

Ta.
Aztec-ish. Jason loved this when he visited!

Old school.
Stairs.
Notice board makes for fien morning read.

The free stuff we get for breakfast. Not bad!

Corridor.
This explains the lack of mozzies.

Funky artwork!

Fridge. I think someone left a chocolate bar in there.

Stuff.

So I met up with Cali! And we had pizza at Papa John's while catching up. God I msised you so much girl!!

Yo.

Spaghetti. Mm!

Mixed platter and breadsticks. They have the most fantastic garlic butter sauce ever!

Darn. Now im hungry!

Pavillion for some shopping~ There was some celebration for Deepavali which explains the various rice art on the floor all around.

Cali!

Cantik kan?

Waffles for breakfast~ Chocolaty! Only Rm4 for the whole thing plus coffee u know?

At the end of the day, we took the KLIA Express to check in from KL Sentral to KLIA. GOing to Miri for Curtin's Conference, but that's for another post.

There was some filming on that day, and the shittiest thing happened! We were leaving the check in counters which was behind the actors there, and when I got out, the thingy got jammed and made such a racket of noise!! Jatuh my air-muka, I think they had to reshoot the scene. Xp

Shaman had a theory that this drawer thingy was for last-minute kids to puke into.

Cam whores!
Bye bye KL! I 'll be back here with my parents this December, and also next year on my birthday with Wk. Its my graduation trip! XD

Of Music and Lyrics

Anybody remember Teardrops on my Guitar? That song that catapulted Taylor Swift up to the status of an A-rank celebrity. Memories of long ago flood back.

I have this weird sense of memory. I recall time according to songs. Like, for example whenever I hear Hilary Duff's Fly I will remember back to Form 6, particularly the end of 2004 when I went to RYLA Camp under Interact. That was my first time getting to know my other Interact/Rotaract friends better like Alex Voon, Franklin Oswald, Wei Khee, Jacintha. Those 4,5 days spent in Kota Tinggi just flash through my mind so vividly whenever I hear any song from that particular album because it was the songs of the moment.

Weird eh? Sometimes, my memory serves me in an audistic manner.

Back in Forms 2, 3, I was encaptivated by the music of Enya (Jason G introduced it to me.) The songs! So odd in their manner and yet so beautiful and enigmatic, some soothing and rejuvenating the bare soul. I remember those carefree times at night when I would sit by the casette player (yes, they were still in cassette form - such is the age of her songs.) late at night while studying.

Another album worth mentioning this year is none other than the incredible Mr DC. Yes, David Cook saw me through much of last year and this year with the emo serenades keeping me company as I discover myself, and as I continue searching for the love of my life.

01.09.2009

For many people, 31 August signifys the momentous day of independence of our country.

Me, I see it as the END of 2/3 of a year already gone by!!!

A THIRD OF 2009 IS LEFT!!

!!

Suddenly my long term goals for this year becoems short term. Achievable, but with less time for preparation.

I still have plans for this year yet unachieved! Oh yes I do.

Chronicles of Today - 30 08 2009

My daily dose of chocolate to keep me rejuvenated for the coming week.

One happy man.

... Make that, two happy men.

Or one psycho!

Love their menu design!

Mushroom soup, according to Ren (who is a self-declared Mushroom Soup Expert xD) is not bad! Edina who ate here before also said the same thing.

Mixed fries. RM10 but a think its worth it! Wedges, string fries, and slices of hot dog on a large platter.

Ordered Spring Chicken for RM19. I just realised that for RM16.99, I could have gotten one WHOLE roasted chicken from Cold Storage (which is my favourite, by the way.) This one is not too bad, small portion la but its quite okay.

Tao spelt backwards is OAT! OMG I am totally slow!

Busy busy.

Deco changed from Tao's time but I think it's more spacey and less cluttered.

Went to Jade Pot for round #2. Malak mien! Well, they ran out of fried chive dumplings so... Next best order.

My customary ice blueberry tea.

Round #3 - Coffee Bean. See the psycho having his chocolate overload??

SALES!! Quiksilver pencilbox for RM50 (nett) and new wallet for RM16 (discount of 50% and added on merdeka discount of 20%!)

Round #4 for Ren. RM6.90 for hot dog from that 1901 stall. Wanted to do waffles but neh, they closed.

We are such gluttons for food.

Spent RM50 ++ only on food today owhkay!

Another 70++ for quiksilver purchases.

Promise, NO MORE!!

End of sales anyway.

Happy birthday, Msia! I will spent your day staying in, studying and washing my car.

Saw this on Tiing's blog - Out of dire boredom (since someone went to Sibu~) Here you go!
